A team born out of effort
Odyssey brings together Greece’s best sailors. Olympic medalists, world champions, and experienced offshore sailors join forces. Combining the precision of an Olympic course with the endurance required on the open sea, this team has proven its worth in the toughest tests, both in medals and in open sea miles.
A journey to the heart of our sailing
Greece has a long, proud history in sailing, shaping generations of top athletes. Odyssey proudly continues this journey.
But Odyssey is more than just a team. It is a bridge that connects generations. Legends of the sport and world champions sail alongside promising new talents. EMILIOS PAPATHANASIOU
A sailing athlete with 40 years of experience at the highest level, consistently representing the Greek National Sailing Team.
I have participated in five Olympic Games (four times in the Finn class and once in the Star class), achieving a best result of 5th place.
Throughout my career, I have won 5 medals at World Championships and 8 medals at European Championships, and reached the World No. 1 ranking twice.
One of the most meaningful distinctions of my career was receiving the IOC World Fair Play Award, recognizing the values of sportsmanship, respect, and fair competition.
Beyond my athletic career, I have extensive experience in sports administration, having served as a board member and General Manager in major sports organizations.
DIMITRIS DELIGIANNIS
Dimitrios Deligiannis is a Greek sailor from Athens and one of the most important figures in Greek sailing in the Soling class.
He has represented Greece at three Olympic Games, competing at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, and the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. His best Olympic result was a 6th place finish at the 1984 Olympic Games, one of the most significant achievements in Greek sailing history in the Soling class.
Throughout his distinguished career, he became a World Champion in the Soling class, confirming his exceptional competitive level and his place among the world’s top sailors.
Afrodite Zegers- De Kleine
Afrodite Zegers-de Kleine is a Greek-born international sailor competing in the 470 class.
She has represented her country at two Olympic Games, achieving 4th place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and 10th place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Her major international achievements include a silver medal at the 2021 470 World Championship, a gold medal at the 2011 470 Junior World Championship, and a bronze medal at the 420 World Championship.
At European Championship level, she has won the gold medal at the 2017 European Championship in Monaco, the silver medal at the 2016 European Championship in Mallorca, and the bronze medal at the 2019 European Championship in Sanremo in the 470 class, as well as a silver medal at the 2004 Optimist European Championship.
In the World Cup series, she has achieved outstanding results, including four gold medals in Mallorca, Hyères and Miami in 2017, as well as Enoshima in 2018. She has also won a silver medal in Santander in 2017 and achieved several top-eight finishes in the world rankings.
PAPADAKOS GEORGE ILCA 7 sailor and member of the Greek National Team since 2015. Started sailing at the
age of 7. Youth European medalist, Two-Time U21 National Champion (2021-2022) and
Men’s National Champion in 2023. Competed in multiple European Championships,
World cups and World Championships, with a career best 12th place at the 2024
European Championship. Member of the pre-Olympic team to contend for the Olympic
Qualification final regatta in France (2024). 2025: Greek Qualification for National Team: 1st place
